The following things are important to consider before you apply to BHA housing:
BHA Section 8 Project-Based and Moderate Rehabilitation programs are open only to Priority One applicants. You must provide proof of your Priority One status when submitting your application.
Households who do not have at least one household member with eligible immigration status may only apply to BHA state-assisted developments.
You will need to meet the income guidelines for Public Housing and Section 8 Programs.
If you intend to apply with a co-head of household, the head and the co-head must both sign the application. Be advised that the head and co-head will have equal rights to the application.
Applicants who are under the age of 18 may apply as the head or co-head of household only if they are Emancipated Minors.
You will need to choose where you would like to live. We encourage you to visit the developments or sites of your interest so you may make informed decisions for locations you wish to apply. Visit the Housing Communities to learn about the public housing development descriptions and the Section 8 Project-Based and Moderate Rehabilitation site descriptions before making your housing choices.
Be advised that once you have applied with BHA, you may add and remove any developments or sites at any time before you are contacted by BHA to schedule your personal interview for the final eligibility screening determination.
Once near the top of a development or site of choice, all applicants must successfully complete the eligibility screening process.
Due to the number of applicants on our waiting lists, BHA cannot provide immediate housing. BHA is unable to predict when screened and approved applicants will be housed.
